EPHRATA — A Grant County woman was sentenced on Jan. 13 for driving the men involved in a January 2008 attempted murder.

Susie Efigenio, 23, pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance in the first degree and was sentenced to 30 days in jail by Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan Sperline.

Efigenio drove the car carrying Miguel Solis Jr. and Jose Solis along with Raul Vasquez to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge in January 2008, according to the Grant County sheriff’s office report.

When they arrived at the refuge, Miguel Solis Jr. told Vasquez to get out of the car and called him a snitch. Then he and Jose Solis fired at Vasquez, hitting him in the neck and shoulder, according to police records. Vasquez ran and escaped the brothers.

He was brought to a hospital by the refuge’s manager.

Efigenio, who was originally charged with kidnapping in the first degree, agreed to testify against Miguel Solis Jr. during his trial in October. Miguel Solis Jr. was found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison in January.

Jose Solis pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in December.
