Caroline Jane Crane
Caroline Jane Crane, an 11-year resident of Kettle Falls, Wash., passed away on Jan. 3, 2009, at her home at the age of 70.
She was born on Feb. 21, 1938, in Prairie View, Ark., to John and Ila (Harrison) Berge.
Caroline was raised and attended school in Bakersfield, Calif. She then raised her family in California. During this time, Caroline owned and operated the “Homestead” restaurant in the Mojave Desert and supported a semi-pro softball team as a business sponsor. She later moved to Moses Lake, where she met Bill Crane at the Eagles Lodge. Their friendship grew from that point and in 1996 they were married. Upon Bill’s retirement in 1997, they moved to Kettle Falls, Wash.
Caroline loved socializing and particularly enjoyed hosting events at her house. She also enjoyed fishing, singing western music, dancing and took great pride in her cooking abilities. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Caroline was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberley Huggins; brothers Art Jacobs and Paul Jacobs.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Crane, of Kettle Falls, Wash.; step-sons Ernie Crane and wife, Colleen, of Moses Lake, and Steve Crane and wife, Roz, of Frisco, Texas, and Loren Crane of Polson, Mont.; Daniel White of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter Stephanie Rose of Ridgecrest, Calif.; step-daughters Carol West of Snohomish, Wash., and Joyce Crane of Quincy; grandchildren, Ashlee Crane, Linda Rose, Caroline Rose and Daniel Branson; two great-grandchildren; sisters Adele Harris and her husband, Claude, of Fresno, Calif., and Marilyn Garcia of Bakersfield, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and family friend Gary Erickson of Kettle Falls, Wash.
