Two Moses Lake churches vandalized
MOSES LAKE — The Emmanuel Baptist Church on East Nelson Road in Moses Lake was vandalized.
The vandalism was reported Monday morning, making it one of three church burglaries in a five-day span.
“Someone broke a window in the back and entered the church,” the Moses Lake Police Department reported. “(A) fire extinguisher was discharged inside the building, which caused the fire alarm to go off. There was a door inside the building, which was kicked open.”
A fire extinguisher was discharged throughout the building leading to the activation of the fire alarm.
Police arrived shortly after the incident was reported and secured the scene. No suspects were located.
On the same road, another church was vandalized twice. An apartment complex separates the two churches.
One or more suspects reportedly entered St. Martin’s Episcopal Church twice sometime between the end of last week and the beginning of this week.
“Suspects went through the church and dumped pancake mix and pancake syrup everywhere,” police reported. “Computers, rugs, walls and chairs were damaged due to the food thrown everywhere. Cereal, juice and pickles were also thrown throughout the basement of the building. There was a fire extinguisher in the building, which was sprayed inside the building.”
The vandalism led to the cancellation of the Tuesday pancake supper at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
