ACH moves on
YAKIMA, Wash. — The second-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors boys basketball team left no doubt in their first round victory over Taholah in the first round of the Washington Interscholastic Activities (WIAA) 1B state tournament Wednesday.
The Warriors from ACH rolled to a 25-10 first quarter lead thanks in part to Cody Jess. Jess led all scorers Wednesday with 23 points, 16 coming in the first half of the Warriors’ state opener.
ACH pushed their 25-10 first quarter lead into a 46-28 halftime advantage.
The Warriors continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Telohah 39-23 in the third and fourth quarters to roll to the 85-51 victory.
Kyle Tucker scored 21 points for the Warriors and recorded nine rebounds, finishing one shy of a double-double.
Derek Isaak added 15 points for ACH in the victory.
With the victory over Taholah, the Warriors criuse into tonight’s quarterfinal contest with Tulalip Heritage at 5:30 p.m.
