MOSES LAKE — Emillio F. Martinez, 25, Royal City, died after he was partially ejected from his vehicle during a crash on Dodson Road South, 12 miles southwest of Moses Lake Saturday night.

Two Grant County Sheriff’s deputies came across the one-vehicle rollover accident while on patrol in an undercover vehicle, Grant County Undersheriff John Turley stated Monday.

Deputies and two citizens tended to Martinez while awaiting an ambulance crew. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appeared Martinez was traveling northbound when he reportedly lost control of his 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Turley stated. His tires came into contact with a soft shoulder and rolled the car twice, coming to a stop on the passenger side.

When Martinez was partially ejected, he may have been crushed under the weight of the rolling vehicle, Turley stated. Martinez was wearing a seat belt but it may not have been used properly .

“Deputies advised that speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors to the collision,” Turley stated.

There were no passengers and the Chrysler PT Cruiser was totaled.
