Jean (Brown) Bader

Jean Bader, 87, Moses Lake resident and former longtime Soap Lake resident, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, in Moses Lake.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake. Pastor Mark Bassett will officiate.

Jean was born at the family residence in San Diego, Calif., on July 3, 1921, to Nancy Ella (Nellie) and Charles Louis Brown. She was raised and schooled in El Centro, Calif. She met Loren W. Bader, her husband of 68 years, and they were married in Yuma, Ariz. For a number of years, they made their home in Parkdale, Ore., where they were orchardists. They enjoyed traveling the United States together as Loren was enlisted in the military, until he retired in 1961. She and Loren owned and operated a cattle and hay farm on Dodson Road, outside of Ephrata. After raising their children, they lived in the Moses Lake, Ephrata and Soap Lake areas, while spending their winters in southern California.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Susan Bader; sister, Josephine (Joie) Nichols and husband Claude Nichols; sister, Jessie Brown; great-grandson, Aidan Moberg; and her beloved husband, Loren.

Jean is survived by her sister Janice Kona and husband Dan of Santa Anna, Calif.; her son, Richard Bader and wife Marilyn of Hilo, Hawaii; daughter Janet Moberg and husband Michael, of Moses Lake; daughter Leslie Bader-Robinson, and husband David of Soap Lake; grandson Jake Finke and wife Jeanne of Ephrata; granddaughter Lisa Harrington and husband Kevin of Moses Lake; granddaughter Jamie Vanerstrom and husband Justin of Moses Lake; grandson Shaun Moberg and wife Callie of Moses Lake; grandson Mathew Moberg and wife Tammy of Cherry Point, N.C.; grandson Jesse Bader of Soap Lake; granddaughter Karen Bader and husband Gilbert of Seattle; eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
