EPHRATA — A Moses Lake woman pleaded not guilty to stabbing her boyfriend in Moses Lake.

Hollis Lewis, 44, was charged in Grant County Superior Court with one count of murder in the second degree after the Jan. 31 stabbing of Herman Green.

A woman contacted the police on Jan. 31 stating she believed a man was stabbed. When police arrived at the scene, they allegedly found Herman Green, 50, Moses Lake, with Lewis, according to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office report.

Green reportedly had a stab wound in his upper chest. Lewis was reportedly with him at the time and they both appeared to be intoxicated, according to the police report.

The victim died after being transported to Samaritan Hospital.

A witness reportedly stated he saw Lewis and Green arguing the night he was stabbed. The two were reportedly at a friend’s house and the witness stated he allegedly saw Green push Lewis off of him. Green reportedly told Lewis he wasn’t going to hit her, because that’s what she wanted, according to investigators.

A few minutes later, Lewis reportedly went to the kitchen, returned to the bedroom and a few minutes later Green allegedly came out of the bedroom clutching his chest saying, “Babe, you stabbed me,” according to the witness.

The witness allegedly told Lewis to call 9-1-1, but she was calling someone else, so he ran across the street and had a neighbor call, according to the police.

When officers interviewed Lewis, she allegedly told them Green was attacked while he was walking by Patton Park in Moses Lake and he knocked on her door to ask her for help.

When the investigator pointed out there were no holes in Green’s jacket, which would indicate he was stabbed while outside, Lewis reportedly admitted she was lying, according to court documents.

Lewis reportedly told police they were the only people in the room, but she did not know how he got stabbed, according to the police report. She claimed she has memory problems.

When police were arresting her, she allegedly fell to her knees and started to cry while reaching for an officer’s gun. When the officers stopped her, she reportedly tried to bite them, according to court records.

If convicted Lewis could face life in prison.
