Fire ravages Moses Lake home
MOSES LAKE — Fire damaged a Moses Lake home on West Lakeside Drive Wednesday afternoon.
Moses Lake Fire Department firefighters began spraying water at the rear and side of the home where it appeared flames and smoke were heaviest.
It took about 10 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the flames, Moses Lake Fire Chief Tom Taylor said.
Fire spread to the roof and there was significant heat damage throughout the home.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was inside the home. Firefighters kicked in the front door and broke a window to determine if anyone was home, Taylor said.
The home was vacant and there were no injuries, he added.
The fire was first reported by a neighbor who called 9-1-1 after seeing flames coming from the residence. The neighbor then knocked on the locked front door several times to see if anyone was home, according to emergency dispatch.
Taylor said the cause of the fire was under investigation but it did not appear suspicious.
A propane tank was involved but it was not clear if it was the cause, he said.
