Man jumps off bridge near Vantage

VANTAGE — An unidentified male attempted suicide by jumping off the Vantage Bridge into the Columbia River Tuesday.

The man parked his vehicle facing eastbound on the bridge and jumped off, Grant County Undersheriff John Turley said. He was rescued and taken to a hospital in Ellensburg for treatment.

The Washington State Patrol reported the incident as an attempted suicide.

The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and were unavailable for comment.

Kittitas County Fire Protection District 2 responded to the incident.

The Vantage Bridge is located on Interstate 90 at the border between Grant and Kittitas counties.
