OTHELLO — A 42-acre site at Cunningham Road and Booker Road near Othello could be the future site of an agriculture related company.

The site is being considered by an undisclosed buyer, making further information about the company unavailable.

But if the company does come to Othello, between 20 to 30 jobs paying $80,000 per year could result, said Othello port Administrator Mike Beardsley Tuesday.

He told Othello port commissioners the site was still in the running.

“This would be a real prize to pull this off,” Beardsley said.

He added he expects more information in 30 days.

Roger Krug of Adams County Economic Development has been speaking with the client’s broker. Krug referred the representative to Beardsley.

Unresolved issues about the site include waste water disposal and access to sufficient natural gas.

It’s expected the company will use all of the water at Bruce.

Beardsley later said he there isn’t enough natural gas in the Bruce area or greater Othello area to meet the needs of a big user.

Money will solve the problem to expand the natural gas pipeline, he said.

“Apparently the county has included the upgrade in the natural gas system to improve delivery of natural gas into our area,” he explained.

He called the pipeline expansion a $700,000-plus project.

Adams County is trying to find money to assist Cascade Natural Gas with the project, he said.
