MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake senior and star wide receiver Billy Brice signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to take his skills on the gridiron to Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Brice, a 2008 first team All-Columbia Basin Big Nine selection, committed to the Central Wildcats after visiting the university last year.

“The (Central football team) were a pretty close group,” Brice said of his future teammates. “After meeting some of the guys, I really liked it there.”

While Brice will enroll at Central in the fall, he couldn’t believe the national signing day had arrived.

“It’s great,” he said. “It’s unbelievable. It’s weird that it is already time. It went too quick. It seems like yesterday it was my first varsity game.”

Brice said the team camaraderie played a roll in picking Central, as did the team’s recent success.

“They are a really good team,” he said. “The could probably compete with WSU. ”

Brice said the recruitment process was exciting and he is interested to see how he will blossom in the Central offense.

“They really want me to be a part of (the offense),” he said. “I am ready to contribute.”

Although Brice is ready to take his abilities to the collegiate level, he is apprehensive about starting his first year of college.

“(The worst part) is being a freshman again,” he said with a smile.
