Cause of Quincy Manor fire unknown

QUINCY — Investigators ruled the cause of the Quincy Manor fire cannot be determined.

Grant County Fire District 3 reported Monday the investigation is concluded and a distinct cause could not be determined.

Larry R. How, 64, died in the apartment fire on Dec. 23.

The man died of smoke inhalation in an apartment on the ground level of the complex, the Grant County Coroner’s Office reported.

“Upon our arrival, heavy fire and smoke was coming from the lower and upper apartments,” the fire district reported. “One female was occupying the upper apartment and was able to leave safely but lost everything in the fire. She is staying with local family. No occupants (were) in the adjoining apartments.”

The fire district reported heavy fire damage to one upper and one lower apartment, and smoke and water damage to two adjoining apartments.
