Edward 'Ed' M. Brown
Edward “Ed” M. Brown, 77, longtime Moses Lake resident and lifelong resident of Grant County, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Samaritan Hospital.
Prior to his passing he was at Summerwood Alzheimer’s Care Facility in Moses Lake.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Immanual Lutheran Church, 1020 South A with Pastor David Daugs officiating. Ed was born January 21, 1932 in Spokane, Washington and grew up in Hartline, WA. Ed spent many years working on his grandfather’s dry land and wheat farm and cattle ranch in Hartline. Growing up, he enjoyed riding horses, fishing and playing sports in school.
Ed married Evelyn M. “Ev” Wegge in Hartline on August 31, 1951 and moved to Moses Lake in 1954 where he joined the Operating Engineers Local #370. Ed worked on the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project, several dams and many large construction jobs throughout Washington and Idaho.
Dad enjoyed country music, dancing, swimming, working on cars, watching sports and playing card games. During his retirement years he took pride in his yard work and hanging out on his deck. Summer was his favorite time of the year.
Ed is survived by his wife Ev of 58 years, Moses Lake, daughter and son-in-law Marge and John Moeller, grandson, Andrew and Dawn Rice, two great grandchildren, Abigail and Jay Rice, all of East Wenatchee, granddaughter, Amber Rice, Bellingham, WA, a sister, Phyllis Loewen, and brother, Richard Brown both of East Wenatchee, two nieces and two nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by a son, Scott Brown, his mother, Alice Cunningham and step-father, Roy Brown.
