POLICE

| December 17, 2009 8:00 PM

Okay, so I was going down Broadway, in the left turn lane right in front of Griffin’s Bakery. My car died. When I tried to start it something went, clunk, clunk. Traffic was busy. It was 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. I’m not going anywhere. I called the police dispatcher to ask for some protective cover to avoid an accident. Minutes later a police cruiser arrived and parked behind my car. The officer turned on his lights and we waited for a tow truck.

Later, back at my office I called the dispatcher to learn the officer’s name because I wanted to write a letter to the editor to commend him and his conduct. Dispatch turned me over to an officer and I told him my story and asked if he could tell me the name of my helpful policeman. He told me that the officer’s name was Jay Petersen and I was talking with him now. So I just told him how much I appreciated his conduct, his professionalism ad his courtesy toward me during my little crisis. New York and L.A. may have their finest but today I met one of Moses Lake’s finest. Thank you, Officer Petersen.
