| December 16, 2009 8:00 PM

MATTAWA — Three adult Hispanic males were found shot on Road 24.7 Southwest, two miles west of Mattawa Monday night.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunshots at 9:15 p.m. to find two men dead and a third close to death, according to Grant County Undersheriff John Turley.

“(Paramedics) attempted to revive one of the victims without success and he too died without regaining consciousness,” he stated.

Two of the men were found on Road 24.7 Southwest, the third was located in the middle of Road 26 Southwest, nearly two miles from the others, Turley stated.

Officials believe the victims were targeted and this is not the work of a random killer or killers, Turley said.

“At this time we are not saying this is gang-related,” he said.

Investigators have identified one of the victims as a local man but are not yet releasing his name. The identities of the other victims are not yet known, he said.

The Washington State Patrol Crime Lab is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
