EPHRATA — One of two men charged in an August drive-by shooting in Moses Lake was sentenced to a year in jail.

Ronoldy Rodriguez-Lopez, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of drive-by shooting — by conspiracy.

Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan Sperline sentenced him within the sentencing range of 11.25 months and a year and three months and ordered Rodriguez-Lopez to have no contact with either of the victims.

Rodriguez-Lopez drove a minivan with two passengers to a Sunny Drive residence, after one of the passengers was robbed and beaten, according to a Moses Lake police report. The man told police he wanted to scare the people who committed the crimes.

When they reached the residence, the man opened a door, firing one shot from the shotgun into the air, according to police. The two women in the residence saw the vehicle drive past the residence four or five times before police arrived. They told police the vehicle had a bad engine.

Police spotted the vehicle near on the corner of Sunny Drive and Miller Drive. The vehicle was spotted again on Stratford Road, and stopped on state Road 17 south of Wheeler Road, according to the police report. Officers found a recently-fired, sawed-off shotgun in the vehicle.
