Kenneth Otto Frank Engel

Kenneth Otto Frank Engel, age 95, passed away on December 10, 2009.

He was born in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, on October 26, 1914, to William R.P. Engel and Anna Marie Rue (deceased). He was preceded in death by his three sisters Teresa, Arla and Doe.

He served during WWII and flew many missions over the South Pacific. He was a decorated war hero and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He belonged to the Pearl Harbor Survivor Associated in Arizona.

He married Betty Maxine Prior in 1944 and they had a daughter Irona Campbell. He is survived by Irona and her husband Douglas, and their three children Christopher, Beau and Amy Jo. He and Betty were divorced in 1946 and Kenneth married Vivienne Margot Skelton in 1949. They had a daughter Elizabeth Ann. He is survived by Elizabeth and her two daughters Erin and Jenna. He was divorced in 1959. He met his loving companion Velma Virginia Pennington in 1959. He is survived by her son Gerald Pennington and his three children William, Ann Marie and Jarrod. He is survived by another son, Dean Pennington and children David (deceased), Joseph and Jennifer. Kenneth is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.

Full military honors will be held on December 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, located at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024. Donations may be made to any U.S. Veterans organization of your choice. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com to send online condolences.
