Omak 60, Warden 48

OMAK — Despite a strong start and a solid performance by Lindsay Cole the Warden Cougars didn’t have enough in the fourth quarter as they fell to Omak 60-48 on Tuesday.

Cole finished the night with 21 points, five rebounds and five steals.

“She showed up to play,” Warden coach Todd Kisler said. “She shot the ball well and played great defense.”

Cole hit five three-pointers on the evening.

Warden who struggled out of the gate in Saturday’s 63-33 loss at Mabton stayed with their hosts, trailing 17-10 after one quarter and 31-27 at halftime.

“We played with a lot more intensity at the beginning of the game,” Kisler said. “We were more competitve we just didn’t get after it in the fourth quarter.”

Omak outscored the Cougars (0-2) 16-8 over the final eight minutes to pull away.

“They came out with a little more desire than we did in that quarter,” Kisler said. “We got outhustled.”

Casey Kisler added seven points and 11 rebounds while Randy Wright added nine points for the Cougars.

Chelan 50, Ephrata 40

CHELAN — Ephrata dropped its first game of the new campaign as the Tigers fell 50-40 at Chelan Tuesday night.

Heidi Buchert had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers (1-1) and Mallory Lotz chipped in seven points in the defeat.

Ephrata shot 9-for-22 from the free throw line.

Goldendale 54, Royal 33

ROYAL — The Knights lost their third straight game to start the season, losing their home opener in Royal, 54-33 to Goldendale on Tuesday evening.

Royal (0-3) got off to a solid start as the two teams were tied after the first quarter at 10 apiece.

Then in the second quarter a 10-point spurt to kick off the period gave Goldendale a lead they would not relinquish.

“They had a guard who scored eight straight points in two minutes and we never recovered,” Royal coach Brock Anderson said. “We turned the ball over and made silly mistakes. Everybody got in a hurry, and a little scared. We made a lot of poor decisions offensively.”

The Knights would trail 31-15 at halftime and the larger Goldendale squad would coast to the win.

Royal shot 25 percent from the field and were led by Leslie Brown’s 20 points and seven rebounds.

“We took good shots they just weren’t falling against the zone,” Anderson said.

Wilson Creek 41, Cascade Christian 24

WILSON CREEK — The Devils of Wilson Creek earned their first win on the season by defeating Cascade Christian 41-24 last night.

The Devils (1-1) won their home opener behind the play of Holly Wilson who scored 16 points and collected nine rebounds. Ksenja Fredere added seven points, seven rebounds and 10 steals, while Jackie Treat pitched in with six points, six rebounds, and five steals.

“We played much better than we did last night,” Wilson Creek coach Dennis Treat said. “We made some adjustments and the girls played much better. We simplied somethings and I think that was probably the main difference.”

Wilson Creek opened their season Monday with a 51-44 loss to the Lake Roosevelt JV team.

Wilson led the Devils with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Fredere tallied 11 points and six steals.

A 15-4 Lake Roosevelt run in the third quarter made the difference in the Devils’ defeat according to Dennis Treat as a late rally fell short.
