Lighted ag parade is Friday

MOSES LAKE — Jazz, roasted marshmallows, fund-raisers and a festive parade are some of the featured items during Friday’s Holiday Lighted Agricultural Appreciation Parade and Street Party.
The Moses Lake Business Association’s (MLBA) event starts at 5 p.m. with a street party on Third Avenue, in downtown Moses Lake.
Much of the event is held in Sinkiuse Square on Third Avenue, or in front of Third Avenue businesses.
The Moses Lake Christian Academy’s class of 2012 sells pulled pork sandwiches, hot cocoa and chili. They are raising money for their senior class trip.
Children can have their photos taken with Santa from 3:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Firefly Cafe, located at the corner of Third Avenue and Ash Street.
As part of the photo activity, a Moses Lake High School student is raising the money for a leadership project. She will give the money to her school’s associated student body.
The Moses Lake High School band is performing near Santa.
The Workin’ Horse 4-H Club collects canned food to donate to the Moses Lake Food Bank.
The hayride downtown is provided by Cobblestone Corner and Harmony Home Decor.
The entertainment schedule is:
• 5:30 p.m. to 5:55 p.m., Frontier’s Best Dance Crews. Winners of Frontier Middle School’s dance competition perform
• 6 p.m. to 6:25 p.m., Rock ‘n B Cloggers
• 6:30 p.m. to 6:55 p.m., Voices of a New Day
• 7 p.m., parade begins at the Surf ‘n Slide Water Park parking lot, 401 S.W. Fourth Ave.
There were about 35 parade entries list on Tuesday, including some 4-H groups, car dealers, Columbia Colstor, Crab Creek Riders, Backcountry Horsemen, the Grant County Sheriff’s Posse, Sunny Slope Farms, Columbia Basin Job Corps and Lad Irrigation, said Marianne Bondi, the MLBA’s executive director.
Columbia Colstor, Lad Irrigation and the Moses Lake Roundup Rodeo donated money to help cover parade costs this year, she said.
The Moses Lake Irrigation & Rehabilitation District has two entries in the parade, a weed harvester and a boat.
“So that’s kind of neat,” Bondi commented. “There’s going to be a lot of neat stuff in the parade this year. We’re excited about it. We still have entries coming in.”
This is the second year downtown merchants participate in a scavenger hunt on Friday. People age 18 and older can participate by picking up their entry forms in Sinkiuse Square. Scavenger hunters then visit participating businesses on Friday and have their form stamped.
Completed forms are entered into a drawing the following week.
