IRRIGATION DISTRICT

| December 3, 2009 8:00 PM

Richard Teals has devoted much time and effort for the good of our community, such as Trail Planning Team Member, Vision 2020, and Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation Chairman of the Board. As a current member of the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation Board, he is working diligently on lake clean-up. Not only pickup and disposal of trash but on the buildup of silt and ash which has raised the bottom of the lake by many feet as evidenced in upper Parker Horn when the lake level is down.

Water storage availability has been impacted by the sediment deposits and when we have a major water runoff flood conditions could and would occur. Also the water quality of the lake is impacted by this accumulated sediment on the lake bottom. The MLIRD is in the process for dredging permits from the City of Moses Lake required by agencies such as DOE, DNR, RMY CORP., FISH AND GAME, etc. MLIRD has received grants for funding and completed the Integrated Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan and has secured the proper equipment to complete the lake management tasks.

As the dredging projects are ongoing and will be for several years, I am asking that you vote for Richard Teals as a director and leader for the MLIRD. Elections will be held on Dec. 8 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the City Fire Station on East Third Avenue. All property owners within the MLIRD district are entitled to vote.

Our lake is a valuable asset and important to our community’s sustainability. Let’s continue to be proactive and utilize it to the fullest. Please retain Richard Teals on the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District Board.
