Man arrested for storage unit fire
MOSES LAKE — Jason W. Kneff, 29, was arrested by Moses Lake police for allegedly setting fire to his storage unit.
A fire was purposefully started in a unit rented by Kneff at Broadway Storage Wednesday night, according to Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Sands.
“The apparent motive is that it is domestic related,” Sands said on Monday.
The fire spread to adjacent units leaving 12 damaged by fire and smoke.
Moses Lake Assistant Fire Chief Pete Kunjara said he could see flames roughly 50 feet above the storage units as Moses Lake firefighters arrived. About 45 minutes later, the fire was extinguished and an investigation began to determine the cause.
Police located Kneff on Alder Street Saturday morning and arrested him. He was booked into the Grant County Jail for arson in the second degree and malicious mischief in the first degree.
How Kneff reportedly started the fire is not being released at this point in the investigation, said Sands.
Police continue working the case and ask anyone with information to call Sgt. Mike Williams at 509-766-9230 or 509-762-1160.
