Grant County Prosecutor

| August 11, 2009 9:00 PM

Prosecutor Angus Lee has made all of the right moves.

Thank you Angus Lee for having the guts to make necessary changes in the Prosecutors Office in your first 6 months in office. All three current Commissioners appointed you and now I am privileged to vote for you. Having served as a County Commissioner during your time as a Deputy Prosecutor and I watched you in action. I have been impressed by your judgment. Judges talked of how you came to court prepared and on time, not 20 minutes late, asking to continue a number of cases.

As Prosecutor you have taken the heat by requiring staff to be at work from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., like the rest of the courthouse. This is exactly what the taxpayers have been asking for and what the Commissioners appreciate. You have changed staffing so when elected officials ask for legal service, they get it.

When training was set up and required for all county employees and some staff in the former prosecutors office refused to attend, their actions were direct insubordination. You have shown leadership and addressed this by choosing an effective staff so the taxpayer is receiving good timely prosecution of cases.

By looking across the state and finding this office operated less effectively than others, you took steps to add attorneys dealing with juvenile crimes. You should be applauded for finding a way to increase staffing while cutting cost. You have taken steps to move the office into the 21st century with computer programs used throughout other Washington Courts.

I urge all the voters of Grant County to consider whether they want the Prosecutors Office to continue the progress or if they wish the office to return to less effective days.

I am voting for Angus Lee this year.

LeRoy Allison

Former Grant County commissioner
