Quincy man shoots wife several times

QUINCY — Law enforcement is looking for shooting suspect Baltazar Garcia Beltran, 43, of Quincy.

Garcia Beltran allegedly shot his wife in the face and torso several times Friday night.

Grant County sheriff’s deputies found his wife, Luz Virginia Beltran, 40, laying in the driveway at their Adams Road South home, Grant County Undersheriff John Turley stated Monday. She was alive and reportedly told authorities her husband shot her.

She was stabilized at the scene by Grant County Fire District 3 and Quincy Valley Medical Center ambulance personnel, he stated. She was airlifted to a medical facility in Spokane. She is in critical condition.

Garcia Beltran allegedly fled the scene.

A description of his vehicle was broadcast to several agencies surrounding Grant County in an attempt to locate him during the weekend.

“Yakima County deputies located the suspect vehicle between Toppenish and Sunnyside with the licenses plates removed from the vehicle,” Turley stated. “A confirmation of the vehicle identification number confirmed it was the vehicle Baltazar Beltran was driving when he fled the scene after shooting his wife several times.”

The vehicle was seized by Yakima County sheriff’s deputies and placed into a secure storage facility. Grant County detectives are securing a search warrant for the vehicle.

The couple’s 15-year-old daughter called 9-1-1 to report she saw her father allegedly shoot her mother, Turley stated.

It is believed a handgun was used, Turley said.
