MOSES LAKE — The 2009 Babe Ruth World Series opening ceremonies are rapidly approaching and the World Series Task Force is still looking for homes to host tournament participants.

The 2009 Babe Ruth World Series in Moses Lake is scheduled to begin Aug. 15 and continue through Aug. 22. and housing is needed for approximately two tournament teams, said Tournament Housing co-Coordinator Eileen Martinez.

“We have six people placed into the eighth team,” she said.

With the 2009 Babe Ruth World Series tournament just a few months away, Martinez said she hopes to place all tournament participants within the next month.

“We know we have four months before the World Series, but I would like to have all nine teams placed by June,” she said.

Martinez originally needed 81 homes to place nine World Series teams and she said she is only 15 homes away from her goal.

“I have 12 kids placed in my eighth team,” she said. “We probably need about 15 more homes.”

Martinez has placed a team in Othello and working on placing one in Ephrata, she said.

“I still need five more homes (in Ephrata),” she said. “I have eight kids placed in Ephrata but I still need about five more homes there.”
