EPHRATA — The two-day Rage in the Sage mountain bike race begins Saturday and concludes Sunday in Ephrata.

The races are open to riders ranging from beginners to professionals, said Ephrata Parks and Recreation Director Ray Towry.

Registration is required to participate. It can be done online at www.beezleyburn.com before the event or it can be done at the event. The cost ranges from $10 to $35 depending on which division is selected.

The first day of the event takes place Saturday at Oasis Park from 2 p.m. to about 5:30 p.m. with several different division races taking place in 30 minute stints.

Racers will complete a three-quarter mile loop through the park extending around the pond, he said. Each group is given a time limit to complete the track.

The Beezley Burn is Sunday at Lions Park and begins at 9 a.m. The final face is at 12:30 p.m., Towry said. There are several different divisions racing during the time period.

The track is about 7 miles with 1,082 feet of elevation change.

“It’s a tremendous course,” he said.

Awards and prizes are given at 2 p.m., Towry said.

The professional riders accumulate points at each race to win cash prizes, he said. The cash ranging from $100 to $800 is given to the top five professional racers.

The event usually attracts about 100 racers each year, he said.
