Moses Lake swept at home

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake boys track and field team received a pair of first-place finishes Thursday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their Columbia Basin Big Nine foes Thursday at Moses Lake High School.

Moses Lake senior Spencer Fackrell finished first in the discus and junior Randy Koon finished first in the long jump to help power the Chiefs.

Moses Lake boys track and field coach Kevin Whittall said his team performed well Thursday.

“It was a pretty good night for the boys in general,” he said.

The Chiefs boys team had three individuals set personal bests Thursday. Fackrell set a personal best in the triple jump with a jump of 42-feet, 2-inches. Koon set a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet, 5.5-inches. Jordan Wilks set a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 161-feet, 10-inches.

The Moses Lake girls team had strong performances from sophomore Magie Munoz and Jessica Loera. Munoz won the 200-meters, the 400-meters and was a member of the winning 4X200-meter relay team with Becca McCullough, Kayla Chamberlain and Sydney Kimbro. Loera won the long jump with a leap of 15-feet 6-inches
