EPHRATA — A Moses Lake man was sentenced to roughly a year in prison for his part in two burglaries in 2007 and stealing a floor buffer in 2009.

David Makarov, 21, pleaded guilty to two counts of residential burglary, two counts of theft in the first degree and one count of malicious mischief in the first degree in Grant County Superior Court.

Makarov and another man broke into two homes, one on Wild Goose Lane and the second on Road 4, near Moses Lake. They ransacked the homes, taking alcohol, guns and electronics in October 2007.

The second man, Veniamin Suschik, 20, was sentenced to 90 days for two counts of residential burglary, a count of theft in the first degree and two counts of malicious mischief.

The Wild Goose Lane homeowner came home to find Suschik’s car parked in his driveway and lights on in the residence, according to the Grant County sheriff’s report. He blocked the car in the driveway and contacted the police. When police searched the house, they didn’t find anyone inside the residence.

When the police searched the area, they found a shoe print in the mud near the lake. They found a matching shoe print on the carpet of a burglarized residence on Road 4. The prints matched Suschik’s shoes, according to the police report.

When police questioned Suschik, he admitted he and Makarov burglarized the homes.

In a separate case, Makarov stole a floor buffer from behind Tri State Outfitters in Moses Lake, according to a Moses Lake police report.

A person, who was scheduled to buff the floors, pulled the machine out of the back of his van, leaving it in the parking lot. When he returned the machine was gone.

When police viewed surveillance video, they saw Makarov pass by the buffer twice, before walking to the machine and helping load it into a car.

Another man, Artur Voznyy, 31, Moses Lake, is charged with theft in the first degree for allegedly helping Makarov to steal the machine.
