Delphus (Dale) Larry Ware

Dale Ware, 84 passed away at his home on April 22, 2009, after a short illness.

He was born in Wheeler, Texas, on March 1, 1925. Dale graduated from Wheatland, N.M., and served with the United States Army in WWII in Japan.

He married Theresa Mathews in December 1978 and they resided outside of George, where they ranched the remainder of his life. In 2006, Dale received the Trail Rider Award from the Cattle Producers of Washington, and also, Grant County Cattleman of the Year, for Cloverdale Ranch. He was a retired electrician of 45 years, who worked on the Columbia River dams, including the night shift electrical supervisor during the installation of the third power plant at Coulee Dam.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa, of Cloverdale Ranch, George, daughters, Angie (Mike) Reilly, of Wenatchee, Karen (Jim) Friske of Columbia Falls, Mont., Susan Gayne-Lynch (Tim) of Coulee Dam, sons, Joel (Rene’) Ware of Yakima, Wash., and Don Ware of Yakima, stepchildren, John B. Mathews of Warden and Helen Jean (Jerry) Rowe of Edmonds, Wash., 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, four sisters and two brothers.

Dale was preceded in death by his son, Larry Ware, his son-in-law, Michael (“Mic”) Gayne, his parents, C.T. and Blanche Ware, and two sisters, Echo Mackechnie and Georgia Corbin.

Dale will be remembered for his love of life, people and his sense of humor. He will be truly missed.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 11 a.m. at Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Moses Lake.
