Dale W. Sheets

Dale W. Sheets, 83, passed away at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee on Jan. 14, 2009.

Dale was born March 6, 1926, in Wenatchee to Florence and Wayne Sheets.

 After graduating high school, Dale enlisted in the Navy and served for several years. He moved to Alaska and worked in construction. He met and later married Margaret M. Jess on April 24, 1951. Their daughter Kathy was born there and the family then moved to Ephrata, where they farmed. Their son Coulee was born in Ephrata. Dale worked as a carpenter and on the construction of area dams, including the Grand Coulee Dam. In 1973, Dale married Pearl Heath and they had a son, Wayne.

Dale lived the rest of his life in the Moses Lake area. He enjoyed a nomadic lifestyle, with lots of odd jobs and adventures. Dale enjoyed reading, attending church functions, and participating in Toastmaster’s. He always valued his independence and the open air.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Mike) Kniep of George, son Coulee (Barbie) Sheets of Peshastin, son Wayne Sheets of Mandan, N.D., brother Dick (Virginia) Sheets of Omak, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy. Reverend Jess Slusher will officiate. The family would like to thank the staff at SunBridge Healthcare in Moses Lake, who took wonderful care of Dale at the end of his life.
