Chiefs cage Wildcats
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Chiefs got a little payback Tuesday night when they cruised past the Eastmont Wildcats 12-1 at Larson Playfield in non-conference baseball action.
Moses Lake jumped on Eastmont early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning and the Chiefs never looked back.
Moses Lake senior starting pitcher Brock Lybbert kept the Wildcats off of the scoreboard during the first three innings Tuesday night and the Chiefs took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the third.
With the Chiefs leading 2-0 in the third, the Moses Lake offense exploded onto the scoreboard for 10 runs on seven hits to take a commanding 12-0 lead.
Moses Lake head coach Ed McNamara said his team was able to come together offensively in the third.
“We got seven hits and they made a couple of errors,” he said. “We just got guys on and hit the ball well. It was nice to see us put together a big inning rather than seeing someone put one up against us.
Moses Lake’s Kurt Hickman helped lead the Chiefs to victory with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate with four RBIs. Senior Blaine Myers went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Senior catcher Matt Harris went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and Dylan Signorelli knocked in a run for Moses Lake.
McNamara said his Chiefs are prepared for Friday afternoon’s doubleheader at Pasco.
“We are going in to play Pasco and the guys are really excited and confident about how they are playing,” he said. “Our team has really been doing well.”
