MOSES LAKE — The 2009 Babe Ruth World Series Task Force will meet at the Holiday Inn Express in Moses Lake tonight to discuss planning for the World Series baseball tournament to be held at Larson Playfield Aug. 15 through Aug. 22.

With the 2009 tournament less than five months away, Babe Ruth World Series Tournament co-Director and Task Force Chairman Randy Boruff said housing is still a priority for the August tournament.

Housing co-Coordinators Eileen and Roger Martinez have placed approximately five of the nine teams for the August tournament.

While housing is a priority for the World Series Task Force, Boruff said planning is progressing smoothly.

“I don’t see any area where there is a worry,” he said. “I know we would like to have housing taken care of.”

Posters for the 2009 Babe Ruth World Series are in production and transportation for tournament teams is still in question, Boruff said.

“We are seeing if the Moses Lake School District would do the busing for us,” he said. “I offered it to them but they had to work on some things.”

With the tournament approaching, Boruff is confident with how the World Series Task Force’s preparations are progressing.

“I think we are coming right along,” he said.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on East Kittelson in Moses Lake.
