Warden woman arrested for drive-by
EPHRATA — Nancy Rivera Hernandez, 19, Warden, is scheduled for arraignment today in Grant County Superior Court for charges of assault in the first degree and two counts of drive-by shooting.
The woman was arrested in Moses Lake Thursday night after she was allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting on West Broadway Avenue, Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Ruffin said on Monday. Although it is not believed she fired the handgun involved in the shooting, police were able to arrest her because she was a passenger in the Honda Accord used in the shooting.
No one was injured, he said.
During the incident, a male driver, who has yet to be located, allegedly shot two rounds at another vehicle driving alongside them, Ruffin said.
Police are attempting to locate the driver and the incident remains under investigation.
There were no other passengers.
The other vehicle was carrying three women, he said. One round struck a tire.
After police interviewed one of the victims, they were led to Rivera Hernandez and were informed about the unidentified male driver.
At the time the police report was filed, it did not appear the handgun was located, he said. The Honda Accord involved in the incident was impounded by police for evidence.
