Othello stays undefeated with win

OTHELLO — The Othello Huskies boys soccer team remained perfect in Central Washington Athletic Conference play Saturday with a 4-1 victory over conference rival Grandview.

Othello’s Jorge Campos led the Huskies to victory with his eighth and ninth goals of the season for the first-place Huskies. His first goal came just six minutes into the contest when he took a pass from Ivan Lopez and put it into the back of the Grandview net.

The Huskies pushed their advantage to 2-0 when B.G. Guzman scored after a pass from Estie Miron for a 2-0 Othello lead.

The Greyhounds cut the Othello lead to 2-1 when Sami Villa scored six minutes into the second half. Othello answered back two minutes later when Campos scored his second goal of the match, this time after an assist from Guzman.

Enrique Romero scored on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to power the Huskies past Grandview 4-1.

Prosser 5, Ephrata 1

PROSSER, Wash. — Prosser scored two goals within the first five minutes of Saturday’s Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) soccer match up with conference rival Ephrata.

Prosser’s Alex Cortez scored three minutes in to the contest for a 1-0 lead and Memo Correa added a goal of his own two minutes later for a an early 2-0 advantage.

 Prosser added another goal in the 13th minute before Ramon Sanchez scored for Ephrata in the 39th minute and the Tigers went into the half trailing 3-1.

The Mustangs added two more goals late in the contest to earn the CWAC victory.

Connell 1, Royal 0

CONNELL, Wash. — Royal couldn’t overcome a late goal from the Connell Eagles on the road as the Knights boys soccer team fell in South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) competition.

Royal goalie Carlos Barajas made seven saves for the Knights and the Royal offense managed just three shots on Connell’s net.

The SCAC rivals looked destined for overtime until Eduardo Arzate scored for the Eagles in the 72nd minute to fend off the visiting Knights Saturday.

Warden 6, Goldendale 3

GOLDENDALE, Wash. — The Warden boys soccer team took a break from their rigorous South Central Athletic Conference - East Division schedule Saturday when they took on cross-conference Goldendale on the road.

Warden’s Hector Camacho finished the game with a hat trick after scoring his third goal of the contest in the 75th minute.

Camacho’s final goal was his ninth of the season. Camacho leads the Cougars in scoring.

After playing to a 2-2 tie at halftime, Warden outscored Goldendale 4-1 in the second half to earn the victory.
