Adams County prosecutor arrested
EPHRATA — Adams County contract prosecutor Carolyn C. Fair was arrested for assault on Friday.
The 43-year-old Moses Lake resident previously worked for the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office until her resignation in March.
Moses Lake police arrested Fair, then released her with a citation for assault in the fourth degree — domestic violence, said Capt. Dave Ruffin.
Fair allegedly struck her husband with a baseball bat during a domestic dispute for a reported affair he was involved in, according to Moses Lake police.
She reportedly told police her husband refused to leave the home when she ordered him to and he followed her upstairs, where a struggle occurred when she tried to close a bathroom door.
Police noted Fair allegedly bit her husband’s finger in an effort to close the door.
Her husband accused Fair of striking him with a baseball bat and reportedly had a bruise on his upper arm, according to police.
The citation will be filed in Grant County District Court.
Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee said he is seeking assistance from a neighboring county to prosecute Fair to avoid a conflict of interest.
Adams County Prosecutor Randy Flyckt said Fair was placed on administrative leave.
