Loreta Mae Rashford

On Good Friday, surrounded by family and her loving husband, Loreta Mae Rashford saw the face of God, bringing her the ultimate healing and graceful peace she deserved.

She began life in Hopkins, Mo., on Oct. 17, 1930, born to Deverne and Marjorie (Gail) Edwards. She graduated Zillah High School in the class of 1948. She wore only one wedding band, given to her by the love of her life, Robert E Rashford, on April 18, 1949, in Toppenish, Wash. They began their life together in the Roza district north of Sunnyside until 1952, then moved to the Short Ranch in Moses Lake. In 1957, they bought their own farm in Moses Lake, where they raised four children together and watched as those children married and had families of their own.

Besides her loving husband and mother, she leaves behind her daughter Joyce Kitkowski and her husband Ed, son Robert M. Rashford and his wife Joann, daughter Victoria Geiger and her husband Tom, and son David Rashford and his wife Marlene. She had 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved very much. She loved to read and enjoyed being involved with her Homemakers group in which she had many friends. She has joined her father, Deverne, and grandson, Troy, in waiting for the rest of us to be with her in eternity.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Irwin, Dr. Hourigan and the staff at Samaritan Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.

Holy Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m., Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. Viewing will take place at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until noon.
