Richard Winter

Richard Winter, 83, longtime Moses Lake resident, died in his home on Sunday, April 5, 2009, from lung cancer.

Dick was born July 18, 1925 in Eveleth, Minn., to Andrew Bernard and Cora Bell (Searle) Robertson.

Dick loved hunting, fishing, his yard, travelling, but most of all, he loved his family. Each one was very dear to him. The highlight of his life was when he and his family had family gatherings. He loved travelling with his children and grandchildren. He left a great impression on all who knew him. He was a very kind, caring husband, father and friend. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic and generosity. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was drafted in the U.S. Army on June 9, 1944, and served honorably until his discharge.

He is survived by his dear wife, Shirley Winter of Moses Lake; his children and their spouses Kathleen (Winter) Getten of Harlem, Mont., Richard Kurt Winter of Forks, Wash., Louanna (Winter) Woolsey of Sidney, Mont., James Dudley Winter of Great Falls, Mont., Trisha Dawn (Rigby) Smigaj of Moses Lake, Diane Laynette (Rigby) Winter of Forks, Wash., Teri Lynn (Rigby) Huling, of Forks, Wash., David Bowman Rigby of Forks, Wash., Mona Larrine (Rigby) McCallum of Elma, Wash., Neil Brett Rigby of Moses Lake; sisters Della Amen of Burley, Idaho, and Rosie (George) Toner of Paul, Idaho; brothers Garland (Irene) Winter of Great Falls, Mont., and Fred Winter of Great Falls, Mont.; 41 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Bernard Robertson and his mother Cora Latimear, sister Irene Gorman, brother Jim Winter and one son Rulon Rigby.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2009, in Carver Family Funeral Home, 1217 E. Wheeler Road, Moses Lake, and from 9 a.m to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, in the Nelson Road Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moses Lake. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10 a.m. Burial and concluding services will be held on Tuesday in the Forks Cemetery, Forks, Wash.

Dick’s family has asked Carver Family Funeral Home, Moses Lake to care for arrangements.
