MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake boys tennis team continued their run through the Columbia Basin Big Nine conference Thursday afternoon with a 5-2 win over the Davis Pirates at Moses Lake High School.

The Chiefs split the singles matches with Davis and Moses Lake swept the doubles competition to earn the conference victory.

Moses Lake No. 1 Connor Lange continued his impressive season with a three-set victory over Davis’ Ben Chang. Lange won the first set 6-3 before dropping the second 6-4. With the match on the line, Lange knocked off Change 7-6(6) to help the Chiefs secure the victory.

Moses Lake head coach Jon Wrigley said Lange has been impressive all season.

“Connor is one of the top No. 1s in the league,” he said. “Not a lot of people can beat him.”

Moses Lake dropped the second and third singles and Connor Koreis cruised past Dan O’Connell of Davis 6-1, 6-2 to help the Chiefs split the singles.

Koreis has been a solid performer all season for the Chiefs, Wrigley said.

“Connor Koreis has had a great year at No. 4,” he said.

The Chiefs cruised past Davis in the first and second doubles when David Asfour and Kyle Livingston used a pair of 6-1 matches to knock of their Davis opponents and Dominic Cacchiotti and Ethan Hall were also impressive in their doubles match, knocking off William Coleman and Martin Rogers-Reyes 6-2 in the first set and 6-0 in the second.

Moses Lake’s Derek Crozier and Michael Mekonen won an impressive three-set match with Chris Lopaze and Marcos Perez to help the Chiefs to the doubles sweep.
