| April 9, 2009 9:00 PM

Evelyn Bernice Leetch, 82, of Moses Lake, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday evening, April 2, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born on April 6, 1926, in Seattle. She attended Cleveland and West Seattle high schools. After high school, Evelyn met and married a handsome sailor, Leland F. Leetch, and they were married on Dec. 9, 1943. She spent the next several years raising ten children with Leland.

In 1962, she went to work in Seattle for Hilton Hotels and then worked at Sea-Tac Airport for Host International before moving to Moses Lake in March of 1981. Evelyn took a part-time position with the Moses Lake School District as an assistant cook from 1982 until 1995, when she retired.

Evelyn enjoyed bowling, dancing and family reunions. As a contestant, Evelyn won “Queen for a Day” in October of 1959; she and Leland flew to London for a week as one of the prizes.

Preceding Evelyn in death are her husband of 58 years, Leland Leetch, and her loving daughter, Carol Ann Theden.

She is survived by five sons: Leland Jr. (Edi) of Coquille, Ore., Jerry (Sue) and Michael of Moses Lake, Steve (Helen) of Kent, Wash., and Glen (Maria) of Lacey, Wash., and four daugters: Karen (Jerry) Flikke, Spokane, Cheryl Adams, Betty Tourville and Sharon (Dan) Thomas of Seattle, as well as 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

We will dearly miss our mother and grandmother, who is now in the loving arms of our Lord. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mom’s doctor, Annie Anderson, and the staff at the Moses Lake Clinic. Also, we would like to thank the short stay department staff at Samaritan Hospital for their special care.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Benson’s Funeral Home, 104 W. Fifth Ave., Moses Lake, Mark Benson officiating, with interment following at Moses Lake Cemetery.
