MOSES LAKE — An accidental fire damaged the Central Towing building on West Broadway Avenue in Moses Lake.

The fire was reported at 2:10 a.m. Friday, Moses Lake Assistant Fire Chief Brett Bastian stated. When firefighters arrived they saw billowing smoke and flames coming from an attached shed at the rear of the building.

Within 20 minutes, the fire was contained, he stated.

Once the flames were extinguished, firefighters saw there was minimal damage to the building, Bastian stated.

It appears there were two possible origins of the fire in a small boiler room, he stated. There was a splice in an extension cord at the rear of the building and a possible malfunction with the firing compartment on the boiler.

“Neither potential ignition source can be conclusively ruled in or out as the cause of the fire at this stage,” Bastian stated.

No injuries were reported.

“The fire has been determined to be accidental in origin,” Bastian added.
