MOSES LAKE — New boundaries for Moses Lake’s elementary schools are being considered by the Moses Lake school board.

The boundaries will be modified to accommodate the fall opening of Sage Point Elementary School.

Parents helped develop the final three options for the district’s boundaries, which the school board will have the opportunity to select from at their regular board meeting April 9.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the district office board room.

The same evening, district administrators plan to bring a recommendation to the school board to locate the next new elementary school on Paxson Drive.

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Michelle Price said “Alternative D” is the option recommended by district administrators.

The next new elementary school could be located on Paxson Drive, and with Alternative D in place, less families will need to relocate schools a second time, Price said.

“If you’re going to place a new school on Paxson, it really makes the best sense,” she said.

Families that live in the Upper Basin Homes and Lower Basin Homes would move twice.

Price noted any of the options could work.

If Alternative D is selected:

  • Students living west of Moses Lake would continue attending Peninsula Elementary School.
  • Students south of Interstate 90 on the Peninsula would attend Sage Point Elementary School.
  • Students south of Gibby Road and west of Broadway would attend Peninsula.
  • Students east of state Route 17 and south of Nelson Road would attend Garden Heights Elementary School.
  • Students south of I-90 and east of Moses Lake, and west of SR 17 would attend Sage Point.
  • Students living east of Road L and north of Nelson Road, and students living north of Road 7 and east of Stratford Road, would attend Lakeview Terrace Elementary School.
  • Current Longview Elementary School students living north of Road 7 and east of Stratford Road would continue attending Longview.
  • Ridgeview and Parker Springs students would continue attending Longview.
  • Students in Lower Basin Homes and Upper Basin Homes would attend Lakeview Terrace.
  • The boundaries of Cascade Valley would be adjusted to balance enrollment at Larson Heights Elementary School and North Elementary School.
  • Students living in Harvest Manor Mill would attend Larson Heights.
