Juan L. Godinez

Juan L. Godinez passed away on March 28, 2009, after a long and hard battle with lung cancer.

Juan was born April 5, 1949, in El Parrotal, Municipio de Aguililla, Michoacán, to Juan Godinez González and María de Jesús Lopez. Juan lived in Moses Lake since approximately 1972. Juan worked for J.R. Simplot from 1979 until being diagnosed with lung cancer in August of 2004. Juan was able to purchase his home on Peninsula Drive in 1997. He loved to garden and maintain his lawn and most often he could be seen working at his home outside. Juan also was very happy to have been able to see his granddaughter Sofia Esperanza Estudillo.

Juan was the father of two children: Sandra G. (and husband David) Estudillo and Juan Salvador (and fiancée Amanda Hawkinson) Godinez, both of Seattle. Juan also is survived by his mother, Maria de Jesus Lopez of Othello, and siblings Jeronimo (and wife Ramona) Cruz of Quincy, Ramona (and husband Angel) Pena of Moses Lake, Maria (and husband Jose Maria) of Union City, Calif., Maria de la O (and husband Tomas) Quintanilla of Moses Lake, Teresa Godinez (and husband Juan Revuelta) of Mexico, Carmen (and husband Jesus) Peralta of Mexico, and Antonio Barajas of Mexico.

Public viewing will be allowed at Our Lady of Fatima beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, with the praying of the Holy Rosary to follow at 5:30 p.m. that same day. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
