Vikings fall to Sasquatch
Community Colleges of Spokane sweeps Big Bend
SPOKANE - The Big Bend Community College volleyball team got off to a slow start Friday night as they fell on the road to the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch.
The Vikings fell behind early in game one 19-9 before rallying. The Vikings went on a 15-4 run against the Sasquatch and took a 24-23 lead before dropping the first game of the match 26-24.
Following their first game defeat, the Vikings took an early lead over Spokane before the Sasquatch rallied and tied the match at 23-23. The Vikings could not hold off the Sasquatch charge as Big Bend lost the second game of the match 25-23.
Big Bend head coach Mike De Hoog said he team dominated the second game but simply could not hang on for the victory.
"We controlled the entire game and executed what we wanted to execute until the last two points," he said.
After two close losses in the first two games of the match, the Vikings couldn't rally as the Sasquatch put the match to rest with a 25-11 game three win.
De Hoog said his team's trip to Spokane was frustrating.
"I feel like we let the frustration of losing the first two games get to us," he said. "I am convinced if we win game one or two, the night turns out completely differently and we go home tied for fourth place instead of holding seventh place outright."
