| September 26, 2008 9:00 PM

Reid was bom Sept. 10, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wis., to John and Leatha Scott. He passed away of heart failure, Sept. 9, 2008, at Spokane Veterans Home. Reid graduated from Hoover High, San Diego, Calif., and attended San Diego State. He joined the Army and served in Italy during WW II. He lived in Moses Lake for 25 years, where he raised his family, sold real estate and was manager of Columbia Basin Physicians Service for several years. When he arrived in Moses Lake in 1950, there were wooden sidewalks and muddy streets, and he always said the town would grow and it certainly has. Pick, shovel and a wheelbarrow were used by he and many others which created the Moses Lake Golf Course. Reid loved golf and as recently as three years ago still could outdrive and putt those much younger. He was a wonderful dancer, stamp collector for 78 years, he loved politics, America, the American Flag, and was a wise and a fun dad. Reid lived in Kingston and Silverdale for many years, where he worked in Kitsap County Real Estate. He and his wife Frieda moved to Spokane in 2002. He had great faith and was a member of Northview Bible Church in Spokane, where he had made many great friends. Reid is survived by his wife, Frieda of 33 years, his four children, Cheryl Johnson of Idaho, Teri Heckly of Kingston, Wash., Bruce Scott of Menlo Park, Calif., and Mark Scott of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Grandchildren, Scott, Michael and Richard Heckly, Bennett Scott, Brendan, Suzanne and Steve Johnson, great-grandchildren, Britany, Ashley, CJ, Jarrett, Noah and Tyce. Nephews, Gregg and Jeff Scott of San Diego, Calif.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at Northview Bible Church, Spokane, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be given to the Spokane Veterans Home, 222 E. 5th, Spokane, WA 99202, where he received outstanding care, comfort and respect.
