QUINCY - Quincy School District recognized its maintenance department and a teacher at a board meeting Tuesday.

District Superintendent Burton Dickerson thanked Maintenance Supervisor Tom Harris for the maintenance department's work during the summer to install three portables at two schools.

"(It was) a lot of planning and coordination, tearing out of hair, and everything that went into getting that all done in a timely manner to get the school starting off to a good start this year," Dickerson said.

He also thanked Harris for the routine maintenance he and his staff completed during the summer.

"I just want to pass that onto my staff because I have a wonderful staff to work with," said Harris.

Director of Student Achievement Carole Carlton recognized teacher Colleen Grigg for her performance on a Praxis II test for content knowledge. Grigg received the Educational Testing Service's Recognition of Excellence Award, according to Carlton.

"Your exceptional performance earned a score that ranks within the top 15 percent of all test takers who took this assessment in previous years," Carlton said, reading a letter. "This achievement indicates a high level of proficiency in an area critical for (educators)."
