Grant County lifts burn ban
GRANT COUNTY - The burn ban for Grant County was lifted Monday.
The ban affected non-incorporated Grant County that was not in an urban growth area. It prevented people from burning natural vegetation on their property.
The cooler temperatures from the beginning of fall led to the decision from the Grant County Fire Marshal and the commissioners, said David Nelson, Grant County's community development department director.
"Cooler temperatures make a lot of difference in a fire," he said.
Fires still need to be attended, have a charged water line nearby and can't be within 25 feet of other combustible material, Nelson said. Also people can't burn processed lumber or use a burn barrell.
