Dog will be terminated

MOSES LAKE - The owner of a pit bull who attacked a 6-year-old boy Sept. 12 was cited and the dog will be terminated.

Tausha R. Klein, 34, Moses Lake, was cited for having a dog at large, no dog license and for keeping a vicious dog, Police Chief Dean Mitchell said.

The pit bull is reported to be 7 years old and weighing 130 pounds.

Alex Medina, 6, Moses Lake, was playing in a private yard on Sunny Drive when Klein's pit bull allegedly forced its way through a closed fence and attacked the boy unprovoked. A family member of the boy was reportedly in the yard at the time of the attack.

Several family members and bystanders pulled the dog off the boy, according to the police.

Medina was transported to Samaritan Healthcare and later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.

Portions of Medina's ears and nose were reattached to his face. Before he could sustain more re-constructive surgeries, Medina is waiting for his scalp to heal, according to the family. A portion of his scalp was ripped away during the attack leaving his skull exposed.

A donation account to pay for Medina's medical bills was created at Bank of America in Moses Lake.

The account name is under Jackie Crow for Alex Medina.
