Six Moses Lake vehicles share similar damage

Scratches appear to be done randomly

MOSES LAKE - At least six vehicles were reportedly "keyed" or scratched by an unknown person over the weekend in Moses Lake.

The vehicles were damaged on South Division Street, East Sharon Avenue, South Pioneer Way, South Dogwood Street and South Juniper Drive, according to a Moses Lake Police record.

Usually when a vehicle is intentionally scratched it is chosen randomly and often times it's someone committing the damage for no reason, Capt. Dave Ruffin said. The particular vandalism comes in cycles. Occasionally the suspect knows the victim.

Due to the number of reported incidents over the weekend, it's possible they were committed by the same person or people, he said.

Two vehicles were reportedly damaged on South Juniper Drive and one person who was victimized may have seen who scratched the vehicles.

The female advised of hearing a long, scraping noise in the area near her truck Saturday night. After she reportedly heard the noise, she saw three juveniles in the area.

One possible suspect was described as a tall Caucasian male and the other two people may have been Hispanic, according to a police record.

She reportedly saw a scratch on the left side of the truck.

Police patrolled the area for the juveniles after the incident was reported but did not locate them.
