Weekend prep recaps

CURLEW - The Almira/Coulee-Hartline football team jumped out to a 42-0 first quarter lead in Friday night's rout of Curlew.

ACH running back Grayson Sizemore led the Warriors rushing attack as he carried the ball twice for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

The Warriors had six players score in the 54-6 victory.

ACH head coach Brandon Walsh said he pulled his starting players following the game's first quarter.

"We played pretty well," he said. "They just couldn't keep up."

The Warriors added another touchdown in the second quarter but could not convert the extra point attempt as they raced to a 48-6 halftime lead.

In the third quarter ACH scored another touchdown to secure the victory.

The game was called after the Warriors' third quarter touchdown because of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's 8-man football mercy rule. If a team leads by more than 45 points after halftime, the game is over according to the rules, Walsh said.

After ACH's win, Walsh congratulated his team.

"I encouraged them to stay focused," he said. "There is not a whole lot you can say after a game like that."

The Jacks could not respond in the second half as Toppenish scored 28 unanswered points to earn the conference victory 41-8.
