Senior & Baby Boomer Expo is Saturday

MOSES LAKE - The 6th Annual Senior & Baby Boomer Expo is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the new 4-H building at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

A series of free seminars begins at 9 a.m. Each seminar is 20 minutes. Limousine-style golf carts were donated by D&M Golf Cart are used to transport guests between the parking lot and the fairgrounds.

The event is sponsored by the Columbia Basin Herald.

Guests can learn about various resources available to senior citizens and baby boomers including how to plan for retirement, care options and equipment to enhance daily life, event spokesperson Kelly Thomas said.

She said it's important for family members of seniors to learn about the resources too.

Thomas said while guests are listening to seminars, they can play Bingo to win prizes including a resort package and cruise tickets. They can also visit various booths from local organizations and businesses.

Moses Lake Eagles group number 2622 is serving lunch at the exposition. Soup, sandwiches, cookies and a beverage are available for $4.

Dr. Kris Dexter, of Dexter Chiropractic, will present information about leading a healthy lifestyle at 9 a.m. He and his partner Dr. David Poole will give demonstrations with their equipment at their booth.

At 9:30 a.m. Kinship Navigator for Aging and Adult Care of Central Washington Nancy Thorn will give information about elderly abuse.

At 10 a.m. Anytime Fitness representative Ryan Winzler will give a presentation about having a healthy and active retirement. He will provide equipment demonstrations and free fitness passes at their booth.

At 10:30 a.m. Attorney Bruce Pinkerton speaks about issues facing baby boomers.

Greg Foryan with Meditech Mobility will provide information about vehicle adaptive equipment for the handicapped at 11 a.m. He will discuss the importance of transportation needs and will share information about equipment options.

At 11:30 a.m. Patty Davis RN, with the Laser Clinic of Central Washington, will provide information about skin cancer.

At noon a representative from The Gardens will present information about their housing development available to seniors.

At 12:30 p.m. Village Concept Affordable Housing Specialist Nan Baus and Community Manager Sheri Reynolds will provide information about Pioneer Village, a housing development for senior citizens.

At 1 p.m. Case Manager Elaine Navratil with the Eastern Washington Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing will provide information about her organization.
