Marjorie E. (Harrel) West
Marjorie E. (Harrel) West passed away peacefully Sept. 1 in Yuma Regional Medical Center from a gallant and courageous battle from complications of lung fibrosis and diabetes.
Marjorie (Marge) was the first daughter of Margaret and Ervan Harrel, born Feb. 13, 1932, in Ellensburg, Wash. She attended Thorp Schools, graduating in 1950. Marge and Kenneth were married Oct. 28, 1950, in Ellensburg. They moved to Moses Lake in 1952 where they raised their three daughters. Marge was employed by Sears for 16 years. Marge and Ken moved to Soap Lake in 1977 where they developed a mobile home park. In 1991 they retired to Yuma, Ariz., where Marge was the manager of two different mobile home parks for a total of 17 years.
Marge was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes for her daughters, lots of doll outfits and even the girls’ wedding dresses. She was also involved in lots of crafting projects, an avid Bingo player along with other card games and entertainment events at the recreation center in the park.
Marge is survived by her devoted husband, Ken of Yuma, Ariz., and currently at 3500 Scootney Road in Connell, Wash., daughters Susan (Jon) Roberts at Lake Stevens, Wash., Genia (Larry) Carvo at Connell, Wash., and Kathy (Chris) Leishman at Chubbuck, 10, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marge is also survived by her sisters: Jerry Bennett, Ellensburg, Wash., Irene (App) Legg, Leavenworth, Wash., and Yuma, Ariz., and Erva (Steve) Hatfield, Ellensburg, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Ervan Harrel, brother-in-law, Hugh Bennett, nephew, Bob Bennett, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends for the interment will be held at the IOOF Cemetery Columbarium Oct. 4 at 11:45 a.m. followed by fellowship and remembrance at the Damman School on Umptanum and Manastash Roads.
